APCO Appoints Managing Director of EMEA-Asia Business

Patrick Horgan in New Trans-Regional Role

Brussels (July 15, 2008) – Patrick Horgan, former managing director of APCO Worldwide in China, is taking on a new assignment as managing director of APCO’s EMEA-Asia business, Margery Kraus, president and chief executive officer of APCO Worldwide, announced today “APCO provides services for multinational clients in all major markets around the world and Patrick will play the lead role in ensuring our work for clients with trans-regional issues and interests is fully coordinated and managed seamlessly,” said Kraus.

Horgan is a former chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in China. “Given the extent of economic interdependence between Europe and Asia, Patrick’s experience on both continents will be a great asset in this region,” said Brad Staples, chief executive officer, EMEA. “Patrick’s solid expertise in advising APCO’s clients on expanding East and his understanding of Asian companies’ needs in foreign markets will no doubt benefit our clients and APCO as a company.”

Horgan is now based in APCO’s Brussels office; previously he was managing director of APCO’s three China offices and lived and worked in China since 1989. He advises many of the world’s leading companies on their investment and policy issues in the Chinese market. Horgan has particular expertise in the telecommunications and information technology sectors.

A leading member of the European Chamber of Commerce, in 2007 Horgan was awarded an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the British business community in China.

“I look forward to helping grow APCO’s business in both regions and I see my new role as a bridging process; supporting our Asian clients as they enter unfamiliar markets, and continuing to advise multinational clients on emerging market opportunities and issues,” said Horgan.

Gao Weijie, APCO International Advisory Council member and former chairman of COSCO Americas, said, “Given Patrick’s in-depth knowledge of China and his skill as a Mandarin speaker, he is ideally positioned to assist Chinese companies with plans to expand their businesses internationally.”

Chris Murck, CEO of APCO’s Asia region, said, “During the past 10 years, Patrick has made an outstanding contribution to our business in China; his colleagues in Asia look forward to continuing to work closely with him in this new role.”
